What is the Densitometry?
Densitometry is described as the hair density measurement per square centimeter.
Densitometry is one of the essential parts of trichoscopy.
The Dermatologist – Dermatologic Surgeon Sotiris Theocharis uses strong diagnostic equipment like FotoFinder and Ecoscan, in order to diagnose the affected area, and the percentage of hair loss (using the method of densitometry in relation to the normal hair growing per square centimeter).
Densitometry is an important benchmark for integrated diagnosis of alopecia, as well as an important ally for the doctor to see, if after treatment, the alopecia is controlled, improved or even worsened.
A digital contact camera of the highest resolution and the best image quality calculates preciously the number of hairs per square centimeter and the number of hair follicles, consisting of one, two, three hairs or more.
In hair transplantation cases, for both FUE and FUT methods, densitometry gives us a good knowledge of the donor area and the exact number of follicular units that could be taken for a successful hair transplantation surgery.
Finally, through densitometry, the physician is able to distinguish and then determine the real potential for every case, describing to the patient the realistic expectations for the outcome of the surgery.
Our 25 years of clinical experience in hair transplantation, combined with our highly trained medical and paramedical staff, are a strong warranty for restoring androgenetic alopecia (of all types) and treating scalp diseases, achieving successful and natural looking results.
For the hair transplantations, we use the two basic techniques of FUE or FUT (STRIP) methods, or a combination of the two, depending on the needs of each patient.
